Knight Trail Park

The entrance to the marksmanship park is located at 3435 Rustic Road, Nokomis, FL 34275. The park includes a Pistol and Rifle Range, Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays Club, Archery Club, and Primitive campsite.

Pistol and Rifle

The Pistol and Rifle Range is operated by Sarasota County Parks Recreation and Natural Resources with oversight by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission. The range is open to the public for an admission fee but does not require a membership or reservation. This is an outdoor range covered range that can accommodate shooters of all levels.

The Pistol and Rifle range is located within Knight Trail Park at 7750 Target Trail, Nokomis, FL 34275.  For questions, please call the Pistol and Rifle office number (941) 861-9797.

• Hours of Operation: Wednesday-Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., last admission is 3:20 p.m. with the last Hot Line running from 3:20 - 3:40 p.m. The parking lot closes at 4 p.m. New patrons must complete a 10-minute safety brief. 
• Come visit the public pistol and rifle range and sharpen your target skills on the covered shooting positions, which include 7, 10, 12, 15, 25, 50 and 100 yards. Cardboard, targets and eye protection are available for purchase. See Knight Trail Park Standard Operating Procedures for fees.
• There are no firearms rented or ammunition sold at the facility.
• All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• If an adult, other than parent/guardian, is accompanying a minor(s) to the range, they must have a signed Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission release form for each visit.
• All firearms entering and exiting the ranges should be unloaded and secured in a case.
• All firearms uncased at the shooter tables must have an empty chamber indicator/flag inserted.

Entry fees are per shooter, per day. Tax included in fees below.

• Adults: $15.25
• Adults (U.S. Active Duty Military, Veterans and Sarasota County First Responders) $12.96
• Youth (17 and under) : $10.17
• 25 Visit Range Pass: $253.26
• Annual Instructor’s Pass: $300

Full Range Closures

The Pistol and Rifle Range closes occasionally for Special Events, Federal Holidays, and County observed holidays. Please call ahead prior to arriving during the holiday season.

• Full Range Closure:

 Saturday, November 7^th - Veterans Day .22 Rifle Competition (Open to competitors only)

Saturday, January 30th 2027. Range will only be open to competitors of the Gulf Coast Games for Life .22 Caliber Rifle Competition.  

• Partial Range Closures:

Sunday, August 16^th from 11:30am to 4:00pm - Hunters Education.       100 yard range only. The rest of the range is open all day to the public. 

Picnic and Camping Areas

There are several picnic areas with grills available. Primitive camping is available to nonprofit, 501(c)3 organizations that serve youth.
