Snook Haven Campground (Camp Venice) Updates

Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources closed on the Camp Venice property on Oct. 17, 2025 and is now the owner of the campground site. The campground is currently closed for an extended period to allow for major repairs and renovations to meet County park standards.
Sarasota County has not assumed any existing reservations, deposits, leases or other agreements made under the former owner. As reflected in the purchase and sale agreement, no existing leases, reservations or financial obligations are assumed by the County at the time of closing. All future reservations will be handled solely through the County’s reservation system once the site reopens.
While Sarasota County cannot legally intervene in or reimburse private agreements that predate ownership, we remain committed to transparency and timely communication as we move forward with improving and reopening the facility.
