Since our Ribbon Cutting celebration on September 8, enhancements to the park have continued! Final touches have included landscaping, and the parking lot improvements.
We’re excited to share these improvements with the community and hope everyone is enjoying the refreshed park space!

We’re excited to announce that the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on September 8, 2025, marking the grand opening of our beautifully upgraded park! Now open for public enjoyment are the tennis and pickleball courts, a brand-new restroom facility, an exciting playground and scenic Woodland Trail.
Whether you're here to play, relax, or explore, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
While the park is now open, the transformation isn’t quite finished. Our contractor will continue putting the final touches on the site through early October, and the parking lot is scheduled to be resurfaced by the New Year—making your visits even more convenient and enjoyable.
Come out and experience the revitalized space—we can’t wait to welcome you!

The finishing touches are underway, and excitement is building as we prepare to unveil the newly revitalized park! Crews are hard at work completing the final details, including fresh landscaping with vibrant greenery, beautiful new trees, and rich mulch to enhance the natural beauty of the space.

The restroom is almost finished, the pickleball fence is up, and the Woodland trail is complete with impressive boulders from excavation. Parking lot reconstruction and final sidewalk grading are happening now!
June 30, 2025
The restroom work is progressing smoothly, and the pickleball retaining walls and asphalt are now complete. The parking lot lighting installation is also finished, illuminating the area beautifully. Plus, the Woodland Trail base grading is done, paving the way for a fantastic trail experience!
May 31, 2025
The restroom's roof is now 90% complete, and interior finish work is in full swing. The tennis courts and fence are almost done, and sidewalk construction has started. Lighting installation for the pickleball and tennis courts, as well as the parking lot, is underway. The pickleball retaining wall is finished, and work on the fence and court surface is progressing. Additionally, the Woodland Trail is being regraded for a smoother experience.

Exciting progress is being made! Tennis courts and fencing are finished, and sidewalks are in progress. Lighting installation for Pickleball and Tennis Courts has started, while Pickleball court demolition and reconstruction are ongoing. Additionally, the Woodland Trail is being regraded.
March 31, 2025
The restroom wall structure is now complete, and the roof installation is in full swing! The tennis courts have their ribbon curb and asphalt base in place, and fencing is rapidly progressing. Excitingly, the lighting for the pickleball and tennis courts is being installed, while the demolition and reconstruction efforts continue with great momentum.
February 28, 2025
The restroom foundations and utilities have been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone. The tennis courts have been demolished, and the exciting reconstruction phase is now in full swing. Plans for the pickleball courts have been upgraded to a full replacement, ensuring top-notch facilities. Reconstruction of the pickleball courts is set to resume in March, promising a fresh and modern playing experience.
January 31, 2025
The site is undergoing significant regrading to prepare for the installation of new pickleball courts. This involves extensive demolition work, including the removal of the existing surfaces of both pickleball and tennis courts, as well as the dismantling of the surrounding fencing. These steps are crucial to ensure a smooth and level foundation for the new courts.
December 30, 2024
Note:
The existing dedicated pickleball courts will be closed at Bypass Park from January 5, 2025, through April 2025 (estimated) for improvements/expansion. The dual-striped tennis/pickleball courts will remain open for play until March 2025, when they are scheduled for improvements.
The demolition of the existing trail is complete, and the pickleball courts' demolition will kick off in January 2025. The dual-striped tennis and pickleball courts will stay open until Spring. Once the new pickleball courts are ready, the tennis courts will undergo a fantastic renovation!
November 30, 2024
Halfacre Construction Company's team is on site. A temporary restroom is installed, and demolition will start by January 6, 2025.
Note:
Starting Sunday, January 5th, the Bypass-Foxworthy Park pickleball courts will be closed for demolition and replacement to meet current design standards. The tennis courts will remain open until spring. Please visit SarasotaCountyParks.com for other pickleball courts in your area.
September 30, 2024
Contracts have been signed and a PO issued to Halfacre Construction Company to begin the construction phase. However, Hurricane Helene caused water damage. Construction will start once the site is sufficiently dry.

A groundbreaking event took place on August 23, 2024, at Bypass Park/Foxworthy Campus. The ceremony was graced by Nicole Rissler, the Director of Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, County Commissioners, County Administration, representatives from Halfacre Construction Company, design consultant George F. Young, and numerous guests. The anticipation for the park's forthcoming enhancements was palpable.
