Join a Sarasota County environmental specialist for a walk at South Venice Lemon Bay Preserve to celebrate National Jay Day and National Gopher Tortoise Day. Participants will learn about threatened, endemic and keystone species, including the Florida Scrub Jay and Gopher Tortoise.
Explore the scrub and discover how the county manages natural area preserves to protect these unique habitats. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and drinking water, and should be prepared to walk in soft sand and areas with limited shade. Pets are not allowed. Meet at the main parking area at 6200 Osprey Road.
