Join us for a naturalist-guided hike at Manasota Scrub Preserve, where participants will look for local wildlife and learn about native habitats. We will explore the 179-acre preserve at a leisurely pace, stopping along the way to observe and identify plants and animals. This preserve is a small pocket of wilderness within a suburban community. Visitors can experience a variety of upland and wetland habitats along its trail system. Resident wildlife such as gopher tortoises, northern bobwhite quail, great horned owls and swallowtail butterflies may be observed. A variety of wildflowers, including pawpaw, golden aster and blazing star, may also be visible from the trails. This program is suitable for all ages. Participants under age 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.
